Modern antidepressant therapy is not complete without Wellbutrin SR. It compares favorably with tricyclic antidepressants with increased safety, but is not inferior to them in effectiveness.

Wellbutrin SR has antidepressant properties, although it has little effect on serotonin reuptake. Its pharmacological effect is achieved thanks to the inhibition of reuptake of norepinephrine and dopamine.
Thanks to this mechanism, it has a mild stimulating effect, which quickly alleviates the chronic depression symptoms. In general, the main active substance bupropion is classified as a psychoanaleptic drug. But despite its stimulating effect, it does not cause anxiety and other symptoms typical for psychostimulants.
Clinical studies have shown that the severity of the therapeutic effect is equivalent to such drugs as Prozak, Paxil, Lexapro. At the same time, Wellbutrin SR is less likely to cause side effects and, in general, is better tolerated.
Wellbutrin SR is a prolonged-effect formula of bupropion. Previously, patients had to take the medicine 3 times a day. This caused certain difficulties in patients. Wellbutrin SR needs to be taken only twice. The tablets last longer, and due to the small interval between dosages, a consistent concentration of bupropion in the blood is maintained.

Wellbutrin SR is used for:
• acute or chronic depression,
• social phobia
• nicotine addiction

This is one of the few antidepressants that does not cause sexual dysfunctions and weight gain with prolonged use.

Recommended Use of Wellbutrin SR

Like any other antidepressant, Wellbutrin SR should be taken according to the instructions of the attending physician. It is not suitable for all forms of depression, as it has a specific effect. Keep that in mind.

The dosage of Wellbutrin SR is determined based on the clinical picture of the patient.
• The initial dose of Wellbutrin SR is 150 mg per day. You need to take only 1 tablet in 3-5 days. In the absence of side effects, the dose is increased.
• The maximum daily dose of Wellbutrin SR is 300 mg (1 tablet 150 mg 2 times a day, with an interval of 10 hours).
• If this dosage causes side effects, you can reduce the dose to 200 mg per day (1 tablet of Wellbutrin SR 100 mg)

All dose titrations should be carried out under the supervision of a physician. A sharp increase or decrease in the daily dose may be unsafe.
The medicine is taken until the symptoms of depression completely disappear.
